Diabetes education classes at the Blount Memorial Weight Management Center

A physician referral is required for diabetes education classes at the Blount Memorial Weight Management Center. The center's staff of registered nurses, registered dietitians and certified diabetes educators can help arrange a referral with the patients's physicians.

Once the referral is in place, patients attend an individual appointment with a registered nurse who evaluates and educates patients in daily care practices and a registered dietitian who helps create personalized meal plans.

Following these initial consultations, participants attend a diabetes education group class at the Weight Management Center. Classes are offered as two morning sessions, a one-day session or an evening session.
