Blount Memorial Thoracic Surgeons
Dr. Jason Budde specializes in the most advanced lung cancer biopsy and treatment techniques.
Blount Memorial thoracic surgeon Dr. Jason Budde offers patients the latest lung cancer screening, biopsy and treatment options, including less-invasive techniques that can help patients recover quicker. These include less-invasive needle biopsies and “VATS” or video-assisted thoracic surgery, the chest equivalent to the small-incision camera technique used to remove the gall bladder.
VATS is used in more than 90 percent of the procedures that Budde performs. Using this approach helps promote faster healing and recovery. Other advances Budde uses include a combined technique of smaller excision and follow-up radiation or chemotherapy for patients who cannot tolerate a more extensive surgery.
Early diagnosis and treatment remain the keys to surviving lung cancer. Budde encourages anyone experiencing potential lung cancer symptoms (shortness of breath, chest tightness, chronic cough) to seek treatment immediately, and encourages current and former smokers to get an early lung cancer screening.
