It took a near-fatal heart attack at age 44 for Randy Storie to realize he needed to focus on his health. While recovering from quadruple coronary bypass surgery at Blount Memorial Hospital, he was diagnosed with diabetes. Storie credits the diabetes management experts at the Weight Management Center for equipping him with the information he needs to manage his disease. "I wasn't obese before my heart attack, but I didn't eat right," he says. "Now, I visualize the portion sizes we learned in the diabetes education classes. I can't say enough about that program. I don't have to take insulin because I am able to control my diabetes on my own."
