Therapeutic Massage
Back

Make time to relax and rejuvenate.

Massage therapy works wonders. Take a look at the long list of potential benefits achieved through this expert manipulation of the body's soft tissue:

• improves blood circulation throughout the body
• helps lower blood pressure
• improves digestive system function
• stimulates the immune system
• aids in the elimination of metabolic waste
• helps relieve soreness and stiffness in muscles and joints
• strengthens connective tissue
• aids in relaxation
• relieves fatigue
• relieves muscle spasms

In addition to traditional therapeutic massage, the experienced massage therapists at the Blount Memorial Wellness Center at Springbrook also offer aromatherapy and hot stone therapy.

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils during massage. The oils can be diffused into the air or added with a lotion base to be applied to the skin. Essential oils are naturally manufactured by plants and stored in special cells or sacs found in roots, leaves, bark, stems and flowers. These oils create relaxing, calming, uplifting and purifying effects. Aromatherapy can be added to any massage for only $5.

Hot Stone Therapy is a specialized therapeutic massage using smooth basalt lava rocks that are heated to 125 degrees. This type of massage is extremely relaxing and allows the muscles to loosen very easily. It has been described as being in a “dry hot tub." Therapists massage with their hands as well as the stones.
