Blount Memorial Hospice volunteers offer essential support and respite services to patients and families.
For more than 25 years, Blount Memorial has partnered with hundreds of local families facing end-of-life issues. The hospital relies on the generosity of compassionate volunteers and donors to deliver its life-affirming hospice services.
Hospice volunteers fulfill a wide variety of support roles such as visiting with and reading to patients, providing respite care for families, encouraging the bereaved and helping with errands and household chores.
Caring, compassionate adults are encouraged to apply to become hospice volunteers. Training programs for are held at Blount Memorial throughout the year. To ensure that all volunteers are equipped for the challenge of working with the dying, volunteers are required to complete extensive orientation and training sessions, as well as submit to a routine background check.
Community members also can support Hospice through donations to the Blount Memorial Foundation’s Hospice Mercy Fund. Gifts help fund guidance and support services for those making challenging medical decisions and/or grieving the loss of a loved one.
