Blount Memorial’s emergency department offers expert trauma treatment and fast-track evaluations.
Blount Memorial's emergency department is a designated Level III trauma center in the Tennessee Statewide Trauma System. This designation means that a surgeon is available within 30 minutes of the initial trauma team call, and that all trauma nurses have completed a critical care course and have training in advanced cardiac life support. In addition, all of the department’s physicians have completed training in advanced trauma life support.
The emergency department is also a basic pediatric care facility, and offers "fast-track" patient evaluations for children and adults with less-serious illnesses such as sore throats and minor lacerations. Known as "E.D. II," this service is designed to help non-emergency patients get prompt evaluations and treatment.
